Repair
rather than replace
A nationwide drug store chain was considering replacing a significant number
of
damaged uprights in their distribution facility when they called MSS to see
if repair
was an option. We were able to safely repair many of the uprights and replaced
the
others. We also re-arranged their system for greater operational efficiency
and
installed guards to protect against further damage. The total cost was still
less
than replacing all of the damaged uprights.
Moving storage systems and material
When an international oil exploration company needed to move its record storage
facility from Dallas to Houston, they called MSS. We designed the new Houston
facility, integrated their existing rack and shelving with the new system, and
simultaneously moved the records and storage rack with a minimal disruption
to
their day to day operation.
Experience makes a difference
A major household furniture distributor sent an RFQ to MSS as well as three
other
bidders. When MSS analyzed the bid, they discovered several areas of the proposal
that would not work at all, other areas that would result in unsafe working
conditions,
and still other areas that could be re-designed for greater efficiency. MSS
was the
only bidder to point out these discrepancies and was able to save the company
time,
money, and potential problems from code enforcement agencies.
"Off-the-shelf" items are not always available
When a Houston based rock legend needed specially designed storage rack for
his
extensive guitar collection, he called Material Storage Systems.
Leasing rack and shelving?
A mid-size air conditioner parts distributor determined that a new multi-level
rack
system would pay for itself by saving labor costs associated with selecting
orders.
However, they did not have the capital funds or bank financing to complete the
project for at least another year. MSS informed them that the project could
be
financed through leasing and set them up with the leasing company. We
completed the system for them and the monthly labor savings more than
offset the financing costs.
Integrating new and used
A fast growing sporting goods chain needed to upgrade its distribution facility
immediately or it would not be able to effectively service its existing stores
or
the new stores it wanted to open. However, it wanted to upgrade using a mix
of used rack and conveyor they had purchased with new equipment to keep
their costs down. MSS was able to effectively integrate the used and new
equipment, as well as fabricate and install a variety of mezzanine structures,
with minimal disruption to the fast paced operation. MSS also designed and
fabricated heavy-duty storage racks for weights and ammunition.
